eTrinsic ® Process
The eTrinsic approach is a multi-disciplinary process that integrates business, content management, and creative and technical expertise to provide a complete online learning solution.
Experience has shown us that satisfaction at the end of development is almost always the result of complete scope analysis and definition before the project has begun. While all surprises cannot be avoided, complete upfront analysis and established lines of communication can minimize their impact. Definition and maintenance of the project scope and timeline is the daily job of the dedicated project manager.
eTrinsic begins scope analysis even before a contract is signed, by providing a complete and detailed proposal to define the parameters, audience, and business objectives of the project. Once a Statement of Work is signed, the project begins with a face-to-face meeting with all relevant parties, led by the project manager, using a 12-part “kick-off” kit that is used as a guide to collect needed information for the project.
Each project is unique and has different types and sources of materials, and the eTrinsic process is built to adapt to these differences. Broadly speaking, the process is to collect all available and relevant information about the specific topic, and then to use a consistent system to grade each element’s importance to the end user. We use the results of the grading system to guide the amount and types of graphic content that will be produced and implemented into any Learning Object.
Project definition proceeds from a general outline to more detailed text documents to refine the content in a systematic fashion. There are several milestones in each project, including outlines, a Topic Analysis, technical specification, Content Documents, Storyboards embedded into a Prototype, and then Alpha, Beta, and Gold Deliverables.
eTrinsic combines its proven process with an understanding that adult learning is fundamentally different than learning created for the captive audience of children. Adult learning requires the information design to be more practical, more concise, and more interesting to the end user. With this in mind, eTrinsic uses an experiential learning methodology, allowing the learner to apply his/her knowledge in a practical and hands-on way in the course of the online learning experience.
